Hayden Wright Hayden started playing alto saxophone at the age of ten, and performed for the first time a few months later with his father's band. In high school he made a switch to playing baritone saxophone, as well as doubling on clarinet, which he played in the high school jazz band. During his high school years he also performed with various youth jazz bands in and around the Philadelphia area, including the Mt. Airy Youth Jazz Band. In college Hayden pursued music at Temple University. He studied jazz there with Benjamin Schacter, and played in the Temple University Big Band. He furthered his musical studies during this time by studying classical saxophone under Charles Salinger from the University of Delaware. In 2003 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in saxophone jazz studies. From college to the present time he has been working with various jazz, funk/soul, and rock bands, including with the popular music star Marc Anthony. He also performs locally with Spanish Blue, an original music band. |
